Our commitment to access

Accessibility is part of Fingal Beach Surf Life Saving Club Incorporated's commitment to safety, inclusion and community service. We want people with disabilities to be able to find, understand and use our beach-safety information, participate in Club activities and contact the right person for help.

We are assessing our website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We also consider newer WCAG guidance when improving the site. Full conformance has not yet been established.

What we have checked and improved

On 18 October 2026, we reviewed 38 current public website addresses using automated browser checks and targeted interaction tests. Checks included desktop and narrow-screen layouts, menus, keyboard navigation samples and the Contact form.

The Contact form now identifies name and email fields for autofill and assistive technology. It provides progress, success and error messages in a form that assistive technology can announce. We tested required fields, invalid email addresses, enquiry selection, keyboard focus, duplicate-submission prevention and recovery after a failed send.

These checks do not find every barrier. We have not yet completed testing of actual screen-reader announcements or all website journeys, documents and visual presentation states. We are keeping those checks open.

Work still underway

  • Completing manual checks of keyboard access, focus, text enlargement, colour contrast, image descriptions and changing information.
  • Testing important tasks with screen readers and other accessibility settings, including finding safety information and contacting the Club.
  • Reviewing document structure and reading order. Some PDFs, including historical reports and signed records, may contain scanned pages or lack structure that helps screen-reader users navigate them. A document opening successfully does not establish its accessibility.

Some journeys continue to external services, including membership, donations and Surf Life Saving resources. Their complete accessibility has not been verified in our website review. If a document or external service prevents you accessing Club information or participating, please tell us so we can work with you on a practical alternative.

Request assistance or report a barrier

Use our Contact form and choose General Enquiries. Tell us which page, document or task you need help with, what went wrong and your preferred way of receiving the information. You do not need to provide medical details.

If you cannot use the form, you can also raise an accessibility request with a Club volunteer or officer in person and ask them to pass it to General Enquiries.

We will use feedback and further testing to guide improvements and update this statement as the work progresses.
