Our Child Safe Commitment

Our published commitment records Board adoption on 4 August 2026 and an original signed by President Adrian Futterleib. It sets out our commitments to children's safety, wellbeing and inclusion, and identifies Club safeguarding contacts.

Read our Child Safe Commitment Statement (PDF)

The Club's commitment includes listening to children, taking concerns seriously, maintaining clear reporting pathways, and promoting safe physical and online environments. Read the statement for the full commitments.

Tell someone if you feel unsafe

If something makes you feel unsafe, worried or uncomfortable, tell a trusted adult or contact our Child Safe Coordinator. You do not have to be a member to raise a concern. Parents, carers, volunteers and community members can also raise concerns.

Use our Contact form and choose Child Safe Coordinator. The Contact page explains the enquiry options and how your information is used.

For information about your options and support, contact our MPIO, James Worrall, through the Contact form โ€” Member Protection Officer.

For a formal SLS complaint or report, use the SLS complaints portal. Contacting the Club does not replace reporting to police or child-protection authorities where required. The SLSNSW Child Safe page explains safeguarding and reporting pathways.

Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive details in your initial message. You can ask the safeguarding contact how to provide further information appropriately.

Photography, video and children's images

Our POL-04 โ€“ Photography, Images & Digital Recording (PDF), version 6.0 adopted on 4 August 2026, sets out the Club's rules. It adopts SLSA Policy 6.21 โ€“ Photography, Digital Recording & Images, which takes precedence if the policies differ.

  • Obtain the other child's parent or guardian's consent before photographing or filming other children at Nippers. Respect children's wishes and follow the organiser's directions.
  • Do not publish a child's name alongside their image without explicit parent or guardian consent. Official Club Nippers posts must not include a child's school, address, suburb or other personal details.
  • Report concerns about inappropriate photography at Nippers immediately to the Director of Junior Activities or the President. Concerns involving children's images or potentially unlawful conduct must be reported immediately to the President. Call 000 if there is immediate danger.

The membership declaration covers the Club's use of current members' images to promote SLS objectives; it does not cover every use, non-members or third-party media. Parents can raise concerns or restrictions. For guidance, use the Contact form โ€” Child Safe Coordinator.

To request removal or cessation of a specific Club image, address a written request to the Director of Administration through the Contact form โ€” General Enquiries. POL-04 sets out the review process and a 14-day response timeframe; it does not guarantee recall of existing printed material.

Policies, behaviour and safer participation

Members and volunteers should check the current SLSNSW requirements for their role before working with children. A Working With Children Check and Child Safe Awareness training are separate requirements where applicable.
